DCU Residential Weekend at the Atholl Palace Hotel
I made the journey up to Pitlochry on a bright Spring morning with some trepidation – the ladies I had begun to know on a Monday evening choir practice would not be there and I wondered who I would be sitting beside and would I have company at meal times.
Well my worries were completed unfounded. I was greeted warmly and immediately I felt that I had a place and a purpose for being there. We were pretty quickly into a warm up and the distribution of music to get on with making a good sound.
Everything, from meal times, coffee breaks and singing were all extremely well organised and it was easy to join in. The fun quiz on Saturday evening, the banter and spontaneous singing when we had to name a piece from a short musical introduction, was amazing. The weekend still lives long in my memory and I hope I can do this again – you’re only a stranger til the first person says hello …
